The road

Barrenjoey Road isn't just the way in; it practically is the suburb, carrying 471 of its 1,592 addresses along the Pittwater shore. For a move that means two things. Parking a truck on the through road takes planning and sometimes a permit conversation; and when the road slows, everything slows, so we time runs against school traffic and summer weekends rather than pretending they don't exist.

The hill

Behind the beachfront, the sandbar climbs hard: the centre of the suburb sits about 87 metres above the water. Florida Road, Pacific Road and Sunrise Road hold the steep heart of it, all switchbacks, shared stairways and drives built for small cars and big nerves. Most of what makes us different lives up here; it's why difficult access is our lead service, not a footnote, and why our quote form asks where the truck stops before it asks how many beds.

Ocean side, Pittwater side

Locals know the split; movers should too. The ocean side runs off Ocean Road toward the surf: exposed, breezier, with beachfront lanes that pinch. The Pittwater side is the working shore, Snapperman Beach, the boatsheds, the ferry wharf, calmer to load on and home to the jetty-adjacent carries. The wharf

From the Palm Beach wharf, the offshore settlements across Pittwater, Great Mackerel, Currawong, Coasters Retreat, do their moving by water. And the local quirk worth repeating: Ettalong sits 9.3 kilometres across Broken Bay but nearly 97 by road, which is why the ferry, not the freeway, is this suburb's real second road.

The practical picture

  • House-dominant: only 12.7% of addresses are units, so most moves are house moves with real carries
  • No big shops in the suburb itself; the nearest supermarket run is Avalon, 4 to 6 kilometres back down the road
  • A big weekender population, which is why keys-held part-loads are ordinary work here
  • Long-tenure houses coming onto the market, which is where our estate method earns its keep
