The Carry Check

On a site walk we read the ground between the truck and your door. This is the same read, done from your kitchen table. Answer what you know, skip what you don't, and send us the result: your quote starts half-done.

Q1 Where's the place?

The suburb, and which water it faces if you know it.

Q2 Where can a truck actually stop?

Be honest here: it's the single biggest thing we plan around.

Q3 Stairs between the truck stop and the door?

Count every run: garden steps, internal splits, the lot.

Q4 How does the block sit?
Q5 Is there an inclinator?

The little rail car some hillside houses use instead of a path.

Q6 How big is the move?
Q7 What kind of move is it?

Why we ask about stairs before dates

Most moving quotes start with how many bedrooms. Around here that's the second question. Two identical three-bedroom houses, one on the flat at Avalon and one up a Pacific Road switchback, are two different days of work, and pretending otherwise is how moves run over.

The Carry Check exists so the surprise happens now, on this page, instead of on moving day. If your result looks steep, that's not bad news: it just means the crew arrives already knowing.
